ads simply explain the MECHANICS of HOW a winning ad is put together. You
need to find your OWN words in presenting your ad in order to have success.

“This ad” made me 14 sales in the month of June 2003 but you need to
understand what I mean by “this ad.”
Around the beginning of June 2003 I had a conversation with Chris Gibson
that completely changed my ad writing approach and opened everything up
for me.
I was telling him how “this ad” had already pulled in 3 sales but then
it dropped off and nothing had happened for 3 days. During the whole
time I was changing my headline daily, mailing out to ALL the CHIPs and
doing EVERYTHING I was supposed to as outlined in this site, but all of
a sudden “this ad” was not pulling anymore.
I asked Chris how he approaches this kind of scenario with his own ads
and what he told me was a BIG SURPRISE, although it made total sense.
What Chris suggested for me to do was to COMPLETELY rewrite the first 3
paragraphs of the ad and make them TOTALLY different. Of course I still
needed to get their attention with the subject line and open the ad with
a paragraph that shows them I’m a human being, but I needed to say it
differently.
Chris went on to explain something that again, made total sense:
To paraphrase him, he said,
“Look Jared, we know that there is something about your ad that can
close sales, you’ve already made 3 with it. At this point the people who
open up your ad have already seen the opening paragraphs so they just
immediately close it again. But if you change the first 3 paragraphs,
they will read it as if it’s new and then you will get them down to your
effective close.”
Then Chris explained to me that he’d been using pretty much the same
EFFECTIVE ad for the last week or so and he just kept changing the first
3 paragraphs every few days. What sold me were his results, I think he
had already made 9 sales and it was the eighth of June!
The moral of the story is this:
If you write an ad that starts to make sales for a few days, great! Keep
using it until it dies. After one or two days of no sales, JUST CHANGE
THE FIRST 3 PARAGRAPHS of YOUR AD! Then test again!
************************************************************************
REMEMBER: During this whole time, you will need to be changing your Subject
Lines every single day. If you use the same headline more than 1 day,
you will see your numbers go down every time.
How do you think I know this? I tried it and my results went down! If you
try it you will find out too.
Below is the link to the winning ad I wrote in June. I milked 14 sales off
of this sweet little honey and I changed the first three paragraphs of this
ad 4 DIFFERENT TIMES throughout the month. Just like Chris said, it worked!
I have since retired “this ad” and I have not used it once in July 2003.
Actually, out of curiosity, I tried it on July 10th and it totally bombed…
only 3 clicks (there’s hardly a ghost of a chance to make a sale off of 3
clicks). I was amazed to see how horrible this ad did in July after it was
a Killer in June.
I have since written a different ad and done the same process with it in
July, I’ve made 10 sales in the last 15 days.
Of course my Alpha’s, you will have to write a winning ad first before you
have the luxury of trying this technique. But you need to know that this is
ONE approach that has worked for me and you can try it to when you cross
that bridge.
Below is the ad that Killed in June and Fizzled in July, it’s dead now, but
still a great learning tool. I will include the entire ad, and then one
example of a different “opening 3 paragraphs” for you to study.
