SAFELIST WORLD
**********************************************************************
This is really more about safelists than Safelist World itself.
The problem with safelist mailings is most people don't know how to use
and manage them. If you belong to any safelists take a look at some of
the ads that end up in your email box. 99% of the people who send you
emails are trying to sell you something, and THAT'S where they
make their mistake. In order to make safelists work you have to approach
them the same way you approach your CHIP mailings. No hype, no sales pitch,
and be sincere. You can write the same kind of ad for a safelist as you do
for an autoresponder reply to an FFA posting. All you need to do is change
the subject line slightly and use a slightly different introduction.
For example. Instead of saying,"In response to your ad..." you might
say something like, "In response to your email", which is what you would
get from a safelist mailer. Believe me, they have no idea whether or not you
are actually responding to a mailing of theirs. This is a good way to get them
to open their mail. Another way that works for me is a subject like, "Sick of
deleting all these junk emails?" Whatever you do, don't try to sell them
something in your headline. Make it personal or urgent or both if you can.
As for the introduction instead of saying, "I know you're posting to FFA's"
you might want to use an introduction that more fits someone who sends emails to
a lot of safelists. The rest of your ad can be your normal ad about your experience,
their frustration, how you want to help them, tell them about the site, etc. Any
ad can be modified to fit any situation if you work at it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for Safelist World itself, what Trey Koehler has done is put together a site
where you can quickly sign up for any number of Safelists and then submit to them
all at one time using their Safelist Submitter.
The sign up process with each safelist is really quick as there is a directory of
the safelists that you can quickly go through. I signed up for over 50 in just one
day alone. As for the safelist submitter, there are some safelists that it doesn't
work well with and for that reason I choose not to use it. Instead, I have put
together a system that makes safelist mailing quick and efficient. Here are the steps
that I use.
1) Sign Up - After I sign up with the safelist I make a note of how often it
allows you to send to it. As I always join FREE this is usually once a week. The reason
you want to join FREE is because if you join PRO and send every day eventually the
members of the safelist will tune you out. You DON'T want to mail out to each
safelist too often.
2) First Mailing - After I sign up I do my first mailing and make a note of when
I submitted and when the next time it is I can submit. For some safelists that let you
send FREE every 3 days I allow myself 2 mailings a week, say Monday and Thursday. I then
put the name of the safelist into a spreadsheet and next to it the mailing day or days.
3) Subsequent Mailings - Each day when I go to mail I sort the list on the second
column, which is the day of week column. I then do ALL the mailings to the safelists
that I can mail out to on THAT day.
4) Adjustments - Let's suppose you get to a safelist that you can mail out to on Friday
but when you get there they tell you the last time you mailed out was last Friday at 1:30 and
now it's only 9:30. What I do is simply change the mailing date in the spreadsheet to Saturday
and mail that safelist a day later. Trust me, it's much better than trying to keep track of what
hour of the day you have to go back to all these sites (and believe me they add up) and do your
mailing. Just pop it onto the next day. Saves lots of headaches.

Tips on Safelists To Join
Most safelists will tell you how many members there are before you join, especially when
signing up through Safelist World, which is one of the great things I do like about Safelist
World. Safelists that have under 500 members I wouldn't bother with. Look for the ones that
have the largest number of members.
Two of the best Safelists are Herculist and Business World.
I personally belong to Herculist as a PRO member. I can send every other day and my ad goes
out to over 24,000 people. I get a pretty good response from this list when I have a good ad.
I strongly recommend joining as PRO if you can swing it. Most other safelists it's just not
worth it, but Herculist is one of the best if not THE best. Also, if you join Herculist
this is one of the few exceptions to the Adminder tracking rule of tracking your ad. You DO
want to track Herculist separately to see your results.

Final Thoughts
Safelists can bring you results if you follow what I have outlined above. I'm not going to lie
to you. You're probably not going to get as good a results as you do from your CHIP mailings,
but if you have a good subject and ad you CAN make sales. Even if you only make 1 sale
a week from your safelist mailings that's 4 sales a month. One more and you've made your 5 sale
quota. I have made several sales from safelist mailings and I wouldn't give back any single one
of them just because it came from a safelist. Every sale counts. With the time management
techniques I've laid out for you, you can finish your daily safelist mailings even belonging to
as many as 200 safelists, in under 2 hours.
